Get Up and Do It

Two weeks ago, a few members of our team were able to attend the Get Motivated Seminar, where speakers gathered at First Niagara Center to express their own personal stories and advice on how to become successful and knowledgeable in today’s economy. Speakers at the event included Billy Cosby, popular entertainer and comedian; Steve Wosniak, co-founder of Apple; Marv Levy, former NFL coach; and more.

All of the speakers at the event had different advice, much of which revolved around making more money, becoming more successful, and taking command of your life. Many spoke of the “secrets” to success and the knowledge needed to get rich quick.

But it was Bill Cosby who had the simplest advice, and perhaps the most useful. He told the audience that the secret to getting motivated can’t be found at an expensive seminar or hidden in the pages of a self-help book. The way to find personal success, according to Cosby, is to simply “get up” and “do it,” referencing lyrics to this popular James Brown tune.

Clad in a blue UB sweatsuit, Cosby said that these lyrics are the most important advice he could give people looking to get motivated. Coming up with an incredible idea isn’t the important part. “The greatest ideas,” he said, “mean nothing if you don’t get up and do something about them.”

Cosby’s words were simple, but effective – especially coupled with his friendly stage persona and sprinkled with his relevant comedic anecdotes. He was able to get the whole arena laughing, but he also made everyone think about his message.

The Get Motivated seminar was chock-full of advice on how to become knowledgeable, successful, and rich. But none of these things can ever be possible if you don’t act upon your ideas. So if you’re looking to get a jumpstart on a project, don’t wait for the push to come, and don’t wait until it’s too late. Take Bill Cosby’s advice… Get up and do it!

Facebook Launches Timeline Movie Maker

Facebook recently launched a new app that allows you to create movies using photos, status updates and videos from your Timeline. Timeline Movie Maker, created by marketing agency Definition 6, takes the content from your page and arranges it chronologically into a 1-minute video. This means that you can share everything that has ever occurred on your page with the public in one concise video.

Users are then able to edit the content and choose music to go along with the images. The tool is now available for both individual users and Page administrators. To make a movie, a page must have 50 public photos, and the video can only be shared through Facebook.

Timeline Movie Maker offers you an interesting and creative way to display your brand. Incorporating a movie into your Facebook page gives your brand a unique edge and allows it to stand out from the crowd.

Because it’s so easy to use, you don’t have to be a skilled director to create a video worth watching. Just follow the directions, and you’ll be on your way to motion picture success.

So if you want your Facebook page to be a little bit different, why not try the Timeline Movie Maker? To get started, visit

How To @ttract Twitter Followers

Most businesses are probably aware of the value of Twitter by now. Twitter is an easy way to share information and ideas and connect with consumers. With a strong Twitter presence, it’s easy to build a community that is interested in your product and brand and what you have to say about it. But how do you get to that point? Getting people to follow you on Twitter isn’t easy, but with a few helpful tips, you’ll be on your way to success.

1. Learn about your community. Start by following other Tweeters like you. Get to know the lingo, what is being shared and figure out how you can contribute to it. You need to understand what others do for your community before you figure out what you can do.

2. Join the conversation. Don’t be afraid to jump right in. Post interesting content. Comment on things you find interesting. Retweet others. Become a member of the community and start establishing relationships with people you want in yours.

3. Get your name out there. Make sure you tell people what you and your brand are all about. Keep your audience up to date on what you are doing and share things that you think they will find interesting. If the audience is interested in what you have to say, they will follow you and share your content with others, giving you the opportunity to make a name for yourself.

4. Engage your audience. Connect with people who you find interesting, and choose carefully who you follow. When your audience comments or shares some of your content, comment or share theirs. They’ll see your engagement as a positive effort at building relationships.

5. Be consistent. Tweet often, but don’t overwhelm your audience. You want to keep them interested, not annoyed. Make sure you are staying up to date on what’s happening with your brand and your community. Being an active member of the Twitter community is a sure way for you and your brand to get noticed, and followed.

Twitter can be a valuable resource if used in the correct way. Building your community allows you to gain awareness and promote yourself and your brand positively. With more Twitter followers, you will be able to increase the size of your audience and get people interested in you and your brand.
