Some companies may go all-in and reinvent themselves with a new look. Others may decide that subtlety is key and make a minor change that you may miss at first glance. Here are three brands that went with the subtle approach for their redesigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Google\u2019s Capitalizing on Gradiance&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been almost ten years since Google permanently changed an aspect of its visual identity, with their last major rework in 2015 introducing a <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/news\/google-created-an-entirely-new-typeface-for-its-snappy-logo-redesign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new logo based on a self-created typeface<\/a>. In addition, they updated their \u201cG\u201d favicon to match. While their typeface-based logo still remains, in 2025, Google slightly updated its favicon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-02-1024x355.jpg\" alt=\"google logo change\" class=\"wp-image-242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-02-1024x355.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-02-300x104.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-02-1536x533.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-02.jpg 1921w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparing the two at a glance, you might not notice anything. Take a deeper look and you\u2019ll see what\u2019s new: the gradient. Instead of the four colors being segmented with hard lines, the colors now bleed into each other, creating a smoother image. This update introduces visual consistency with the logo for their in-house artificial intelligence model, Gemini. For now, it\u2019s up to speculation as to whether this small update is teasing a larger rebrand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Deep Blues for Walmart<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In early 2025, for the first time in almost 20 years, Walmart <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/news\/2025\/01\/13\/walmart-introduces-updated-look-and-feel-a-testament-to-heritage-and-innovation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">updated its wordmark and logo<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you were familiar with the brand\u2019s previous look and saw the new designs, you may not know anything has changed. And really, the core design hasn\u2019t. The changes are extremely subtle, but give the brand a refreshed, modern sense of identity that resists straying far from their well-established look. It\u2019s a new, tasteful look without resorting to reinvention, blending familiarity and newness.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Change in the Amazon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon, like Walmart, also made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/05\/09\/amazon-rebrand-2025-koto-xcm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subtle change to its logo after over 20 years<\/a>. In addition to changing its main logo, Amazon also updated its brand system for its services like Prime Video and Alexa to ensure consistency between them. While the updates to their services can be noticeable upon first glance, their new logo may require a double-take. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-04-1024x312.jpg\" alt=\"amazon logo update\" class=\"wp-image-244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-04-1024x312.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-04-300x91.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-04-1536x468.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.quinlanco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quinlan_Logo_Blog_May2025-04-2048x624.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You may notice the new color applied to the arrow. Amazon is a company with a hidden image in the logo \u2013 the arrow connecting the \u2018a\u2019 to \u2018z\u2019 forms a smile \u2013 and this new shade gives it a warmer feel. There are also subtle changes in the letters, such as the curved bowls of the \u2018a\u2019s changed to be straighter and the \u2018m\u2019 appearing thicker.
