Using SEO-based content to attract customers

Life Storage (formerly Uncle Bob's Self Storage) is focused on reaching potential customers who have a need for storage. Consumers typically search for storage facilities when they realize it's needed, and due to the short buying cycle, it's critical for companies like Life Storage to be in the top of online search results. As part of a larger content strategy, Quinlan wanted to bring in more topics that were of interest to potential customers and could showcase some of the reasons to use self storage in an engaging way.

To determine the best topics, we went through an in-depth SEO review to pinpoint which keywords would be a good fit based on search volume, competition and other trends in the marketplace. In order to make this content interesting to the audience, we developed a series of animated videos which would live within the blog post and be promoted on social media. Lastly, for each post we identified influencers on the topics and used them to enhance the credibility, and shareability of the content.

The top-performing posts included a blog geared towards those in need of car storage and another to highlight Life Storage's climate-controlled capabilities for those needing wine storage. The blog posts were successful and received a higher number of shares than standard posts. Additionally, we gained natural backlinks to the wine storage post from credible sources to further boost the SEO value of the content.
