Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Advertising Club of Buffalo’s AdLab event on social media.
The event was a panel discussion featuring some of Buffalo’s best in the social media world: Liz Chatterton of Kegworks, Kevin Evanetski of Social Yeah, Karen Fashano of VisitBuffaloNiagara.com, and Ben Kirst of Buffalo.com.
Two weeks ago, a few members of our team were able to attend the Get Motivated Seminar, where speakers gathered at First Niagara Center to express their own personal stories and advice on how to become successful and knowledgeable in today’s economy. Speakers at the event included Billy Cosby, popular entertainer and comedian; Steve Wosniak, co-founder of Apple; Marv Levy, former NFL coach; and more.

As a young professional, especially as a young communications professional, I can’t help but notice social media “no-no’s” from my peers. I’m sure there are a lot of other 21 year olds who know how to be social acceptable on social media channels, but more often than not, I find myself cringing at the inappropriate profile pictures, language, and way “TMI” status updates and tweets.
So… all you youngsters out there (or anyone mentoring one of these social media violators), please take notes.
