It’s a Sahlen’s Summer: WNY’s Favorite Hot dog on a “roll”

Our client, Sahlen’s Packaging Company, is on a “roll” this year this summer.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Earlier this month, Sahlen’s announced its expansion to the shelves of the venerable Harris Teeter grocery chain in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area.
  • Sahlen’s recently renewed its sponsorship to be the official hot dog of the Buffalo Bills as the team enters its most highly-anticipated season in years (Go Bills!).
  • The Western New York Flash – the Sahlen’s-owned women’s professional soccer team based in Rochester – have the honor of welcoming back defender Whitney Engen and forward Sydney Leroux, members of the World Cup-winning Team USA squad.
  • Sahlen’s Hot Dogs will be sold onboard the new Ted’s Hot Dogs Food Truck, set to start roaming Buffalo’s streets by mid-August.

That’s not all – Sahlen’s has also been nominated for two QVC Customer Choice awards Food items this year! The popular home shopping network, which reaches 98 million U.S. homes, named Sahlen’s to its Best Newcomer and Best Grilling Product categories. Dedicated Buffalonians near and far have been able to receive their favorite hot dogs from the help of Sahlen’s and QVC’s partnership and have also let newbies experience the smoky, delicious taste of a Sahlen’s Smokehouse Hot Dog.

Team Quinlan even broke out the grill this summer and our Director of Development Greg Croniser and UX/UI Developer Michael Belfatto fired up Sahlen’s Hot Dogs and Sausages for the entire agency.

Make sure you are grilling your Sahlen’s hot dogs the right way this summer! Warm the dog for five minutes on the side of the grill, move onto the grill and turn regularly, split the casing with a grilling fork as the dog heats and expands and serve the delicious dog on a fresh bun with your favorite toppings.

Introducing Casual Fridays

 

Casual Fridays is hosted by our own Creative Director, Frank Conjerti, and includes “frank” (ha ha) discussions of industry news, tech notes, marketing tips and pop culture trends. The videos aim to be lighthearted, informative and thought-provoking – similar, in fact, to most conversations with our friend Frank.

“This is an exciting week. I’m about to launch the public display of my awkwardness,” Frank joked. “But seriously, our agency is going through an incredible transition. When I was promoted to the creative lead, my boss, (Vice President of Operations) Ryan DiMillo, told me that part of this role is getting out in front of audiences. So after a little prodding, I agreed to write and produce a series of videos to help humanize our agency, and, in turn, attach my face to our name.”

The series is part of the ongoing evolution of Quinlan – and Frank admits he is fired up by the changes.

“We’ve focused on instilling in our culture a new sense of pride in our work,” he says. “It’s amazing to see the passion, and sometimes anger, in people fighting for new ideas. I love it.”

Advertising Club of Buffalo adds Quinlan’s Jillian Pecoraro as new board member

Our very own Graphic Designer Jillian Pecoraro was recently selected as one of nine new members of the Advertising Club of Buffalo’s Board of Directors. Jillian’s nod continues a burgeoning tradition of Quinlan representatives on the Ad Club board and marks an exciting personal step towards engaging more deeply with the advertising world in Buffalo.

“I am very excited and love that I will be representing Quinlan amongst the other advertising agencies of Buffalo,” Jillian states. “It’s going to be a great opportunity to work with other creatives in the industry!”

Jillian’s duties as board member include planning, promoting and attending the nearly 20 Ad Club events held each year, ranging from monthly AdLab sessions to special Ad Week events, student workshops and – of course – the ADDYs, Buffalo’s annual advertising showcase. In addition, she’ll be expected to participate in monthly board meetings and subcommittee meetings.

What exactly does it take to become a member with the Advertising Club of Buffalo Board of Directors? Knowledge of the advertising industry, a creative passion and being a Buffalo fanatic help!

Quinlan’s Creative Director Frank Conjerti served as a board member for the past two years and offers Jillian some helpful advice.

“Being a board member is extremely rewarding – you meet great people, learn a lot about the local and national advertising industries and make connections that really help you grow,” Frank said. “As long as you’re willing to get involved, put yourself out there and work hard to improve the club, the experience will be outstanding — for you, your fellow board members and the entire club.”

Frank helped create the Ad Club of Buffalo’s new website, managed email campaigns, and coordinated the 2014 Bowling Tournament (which Quinlan sponsored).

Jillian is currently a graphic designer at Quinlan and worked previously as a freelance graphic designer for Artistree and graphic designer for a stationary company, Paper and Cup.
